As we mark the 10-year anniversary of LEED for Neighborhood Development, we have made significant progress on walkable, sustainable communities. Yet, today’s headlines grapple with persistent and emerging issues of equity, access and factors affecting basic quality of life and health. These challenges demand a reinvigorated search for solutions.

Mithun Partner Erin Christensen Ishizaki will explore foundational plenary concepts of resilience, equity and identity down to ground level at “Take Action on Inclusive, Sustainable Urbanism,” an interactive session at CNU 25. Erin will be joined by Jessica Millman, Project Bookends; Donald King, Mirmar Studio; and Maiko Winkler-Chin, SCIDpda. The session will utilize diverse case studies—from an industrial and entertainment hub in Denver to the community of the first African American owned bank west of the Mississippi, to a village in upstate New York—to reflect on the value of LEED-ND and share emerging strategies and platforms for neighborhood sustainability.
