New Show Opens at Mithun’s Threshold Gallery

Date Posted: 05.04.2017

Suspended Journeys, featuring work by Steve Skonieczny, will be on display through June at Threshold Gallery. Please join us for an opening reception with the artist on Thursday, May 4, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

With a career focused in cabinetry and furniture, Steve sees in each piece of wood unique color, texture, and even emotional qualities, as well as how those elements influence and define the objects they become. In Suspended Journeys, he approaches each cut piece as a frozen brush stroke, and the composition of those pieces as an opportunity for a story. Through his art, Steve hopes to capture how our lives are a layering of choices, stories and travels. He invites each viewer to engage in a process of discovery—of emerging patterns within each piece, or new elements of their own inner worlds.

Threshold Gallery was established by Mithun in 2008 to connect people with art, artists and the built environment, as well as to inspire and drive our work as designers. The gallery is located within Mithun’s offices at Pier 56 on the Seattle Waterfront, and is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
