How we think about public space needs to rapidly shift to include and reflect changing demographics, growing populations and essential climate adaptations. Mithun is pleased to host “Rising Voices, Rising Vision: The Power of Public Space,” a panel discussion exploring questions like: How can we design with, not for, racially and economically diverse communities? We hope to converse more deeply and critically about changes to the design process to build community involvement, capacity for self-advocacy and wealth creation. Ultimately, we wonder how the strategies, values and ideas synthesized at the outset of the panel can form a context-sensitive vision for open space.

Emerging design leaders will share their observations and perspectives about building an equitable design process. Mithun landscape designers Jescelle Major and Mariana Urgo will be joined by Chris Reed of STOSS in Boston, and Aiko Schaefer of Front and Centered. Candace Damon of HR&A Advisors in New York will moderate the discussion.
