“The Pathway to a Net Zero Commercial Kitchen: The Commons at Chatham University Eden Hall” will delve into the integrated design process that delivered one of the world’s first net zero energy commercial kitchens. The Commons is part of Chatham University’s new Eden Hall Campus located in Richland Township, Pennsylvania. It is targeting net zero energy, including all kitchen process energy, as well as a LEED Platinum certification.

Dave Goldberg, leader of Mithun’s design team, will discuss the inspiration for the project and the sustainable features of the architectural design. This session will also explore how the design team investigated every detail of the way the commercial kitchen consumes energy, including cooking equipment, cooking fuels, and even menu selection, with the goal of delivering a net positive building.

Dave will be joined by Hormoz Janssens, Managing Principal and Steve Gross, Sr. Energy Analyst, both of Interface Engineering.
