2016 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the National Park Service. Its 408 units reflect U.S. park design at its best. “The National Park Service and Design Innovation: Beyond the First Century” will explore case studies and projects including the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias that highlight how NPS defined U.S. park planning over the past century, and how new efforts are continuing its traditions of innovation and design excellence.

Mithun Associate Principal Susan Olmsted will participate in this panel discussion at the 2016 ASLA Annual Meeting and Expo. She will be joined by fellow panelists Michael Stachowicz, Turf Management Specialist, National Mall and Memorial Parks, National Park Service; and Phil E. Hendricks Jr., Landscape Architecture Group Manager, Robert Peccia & Associates; and moderator Barbara Wyatt, Historian, National Park Service.
