Education
Scientific research has revealed our world as a global system and drives us to find ways to merge science and design. Our continuing-education program, known as Mithuniversity, provides classes and lectures on a wide variety of topics to promote an understanding of our impact on the planet and to help us make increasingly intelligent choices. Mithuniversity is constantly updated, and has twice received the American Institute of Architects National Continuing Education Award for Excellence.
Our mentorship system acknowledges that the best education is through direct project experience – working with people who have succeeded before. Each project team brings together people with complementary skills, allowing mentorship to permeate our culture. Several other programs enrich our experience, as well. We strongly encourage LEED® accreditation to create a common perspective for multiple disciplines. Annual study tours send staff to foreign destinations to inspire creative exploration in our work, community and lives. Also, Mithun co-chairs the University of Washington’s sustainable design professorship at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, linking the private sector with academic research.
