Bill LaPatra

Partner

FAIA, LEED AP

With more than 40 years of practice, Bill serves as design partner on a range of higher education, civic, and mixed-use projects including housing and commercial. He leads projects from consensus-building input through completion, ensuring that each design grows from a deep green foundation, with technical rigor and a focus on character, purpose and place. Notable projects include the mixed-use 200 Occidental building, home to the Weyerhaeuser Headquarters in Seattle’s Pioneer Square; Princeton University Meadows Graduate Student Housing, which is among the largest Passive House projects in the country; and the award-winning and LEED Platinum certified UC Irvine Mesa Court Towers living-learning community.

In particular, Bill has been instrumental in helping grow Mithun’s higher education and student life practice to national prominence. He is recognized for advancing the design of student life facilities nationally through holistic support for students’ academic and social development, deep green building performance, and championship of design excellence within alternative delivery models (including design-build, GC/CM and P3 partnerships). Bill is a regular conference presenter, joining with housing professionals, contractors, engineers and developers to share lessons learned and exemplary models for design-forward collaboration within alternative delivery.
