Living Future: EcoDistrict Assessment Methods

Brodie Bain joins panelists Nicole Isle of Brightworks, Vivek Shandas from Portland State University and Naomi Cole from Portland Sustainability Institute at Living Future 2011:
Identifying the right project priorities for a sustainable neighborhood requires an integrated assessment of community characteristics, interests and performance. As part of Portland’s EcoDistricts Initiative, PoSI convened leaders from PSU, Portland Bureau of Planning and Sustainability and Mithun, to develop a rigorous framework for assessing sustainability performance and evaluating
project opportunities in a neighborhood.
The panel will explore how these emerging EcoDistricts can shape best practices in the areas of engagement, local governance, finance, policy, and assessment methods, discussing with the audience how to tailor these practices to specific projects, needs and assets.
