Keahuolu Land Planning

Kona, HI

‘Aina First

Keahuolu ahupua'a stretches from the shoreline up the slopes of Hualalai volcano. Focused around an extensive trail and open space system, the plan protects the shoreline while allowing locals and visitors to ‘bring voice’ to cultural sites and activities unique to Hawai'i. Pockets of walkable neighborhoods and a village center are interconnected with new street and bicycle infrastructure and transit.

Our Children, Our Future

The land will be a living laboratory for families with an environmental education program and thirty miles of new trails providing safe routes to schools and parks. The development’s revenue will support Trust programs serving orphan and destitute children in Hawai'i.

Regional Catalyst and Legacy

A new promenade will be a unique public amenity – the first of its kind on Hawai'i Island. The enduring, evolutionary plan will help Keahuolu become a complete community that is culturally vibrant, economically resilient, and connected to the ‘aina.
