A Generous Urban Experience

The Huxley

Seattle, WA

Celebrating Local History

Building detailing and materials express the site’s connection to the West Seattle steel industry. Steel is celebrated in many forms, from extruded window frames to weathering steel details, and brings historical texture to this rapidly transforming neighborhood.

Best of Both Worlds

The design responds to local demand for workforce housing by maximizing the number of housing units allowed on the site, and balances this density with diverse amenities. Rooftop gathering spaces support resident community and open to views of the Seattle skyline and this hillside neighborhood.

A Warm Welcome

The building incorporates a mix of residential and commercial units, and fosters a vibrant pedestrian environment linked to transit at a gateway to the West Seattle Junction neighborhood. A generous ground-level setback defines a raised walkway at the live/work units, inviting passers-by to linger and explore the shops.
