Duke University
*Lee Copeland while at Weinstein Copeland Architects
Since the construction of Duke’s architecturally distinctive quads in the 1920s, the “University in the forest” has undergone major changes. The forest edge has been receded to provide space for expansion, and its medical facilities have grown dramatically, requiring state-of-the-art facilities and convenient access for patients and staff. The Master Plan is designed to assist decision makers in preserving the historic areas and the character of the University within a forested setting, in linking the different sectors within the campus, and in directing future growth.
