High Point Parks

Three neighborhood parks manage stormwater and enhance an affordable housing community

High Point Parks

Overview

Mithun designed three anchor parks within the High Point Master Plan open space network. The parks provide stormwater maintenance, view corridors, and diverse experiences within a connected, vibrant public realm. Each serves a vital function for the community, bringing neighbors together and creating a destination for the greater Seattle area. Bataan Park links directly to Longfellow Creek – one of the city’s last salmon-bearing creeks – with a design that interprets the elements of a healthy watershed. North Park, organized by braided threads of walkways and swales, frames an iconic view of downtown Seattle. Stormwater Park provides a 1/4-mile walking trail, unstructured play area, and broad vistas. The parks and streets attract people from throughout West Seattle for their daily walks and exercise.
