Newcastle Library
Overview
King County Library System’s vision of a high quality library in Newcastle is becoming a reality. The new 11,000 sf library and below-grade parking will anchor a future high-density mixed-use development, designed by Mithun. Located at the corner of SE 72nd Street and 129th Avenue SE in Newcastle’s downtown core, the site is surrounded by retail, business and residential properties.
A daylight reading room, children and teen spaces, community meeting room and outdoor plaza create flexible spaces for changing operational needs and technology. Sustainable features include a vegetated roof and a geothermal heat exchange system. The unique identity of this new library will be a source of pride for the King County Library System and the Newcastle community.
