Nordheim Court

Pioneering sustainable student housing

Project Galleries

Nordheim Court

Overview

Working closely with housing staff, faculty and student groups, Mithun created a design concept to address the need for additional independent living alternatives for undergraduates. Nordheim Court, located a half-mile from campus, includes four-bedroom townhouses over apartments, gathering spaces and underground parking. The design takes advantage of an existing pond, southern exposure and access to the Burke-Gilman Trail. The project incorporates sustainable design principles including certified woods, recycled products, saving existing trees and using the pond for storm water retention. The pedestrian-oriented student housing neighborhood established a precedent for University of Washington as the school’s first registered LEED® project.
