Shilshole Bay Marina
Overview
Where the Land Meets the Sea — Shilshole Bay Marina connects people with a shared appreciation of our Pacific Northwest environment. It is a poetic expression of the Port of Seattle’s practical need for a hard working, functional facility that serves multiple communities, welcomes tourists and stimulates the local economy. Adjacent to Golden Gardens Park on the Puget Sound, this elegant, horizontal structure links land and sea in Seattle, providing a place where people from either side can equally enjoy the waterfront.
The multi-use public space provides the Port of Seattle with administrative offices, and the neighborhood with a hub for all kinds of water sports, marine-related retail, a new public plaza, fishing pier and mile-long waterfront promenade. Highly sustainable, the streamlined building operates like a sailboat with operable windows maximizing natural lighting and ventilation. Public art, such as plaza’s interactive fountain where children are encouraged to play, adds to the seaside experience.
