UW Southwest Campus Plan

Integrating teaching, research & administrative space with public access & amenities

UW Southwest Campus Plan

Overview

Prepared as a supplement to the University ten-year General Physical Development Plan, the southwest campus, which borders on Portage Bay, will include new development primarily for the life sciences and the college of Ocean and Fisheries Sciences. The plan integrates programmed teaching, research and administrative space with access and amenities for the general public. The shoreline especially will be reserved and developed for water related activities and open space. Development of the plan and its approval process involved extensive analysis, data gathering, testing of projected building programs and numerous public and university presentations, reviews, and workshops. The SEPA/EIS process was completed, as well as public hearings before the Seattle City Council, Design Commission and Hearing Examiner.
