Ordinary planning tools take a limited view of building performance and strategic goals, and the Better Buildings Challenge is all about being extraordinary. In this session, panelists will discuss how to develop strategic goals that seek to optimize building performance in terms of energy use as well as other factors: water use, resident health, environmental protection, disaster resilience, and job creation.

Join Mithun’s Erin Christensen Ishizaki at the Better Buildings Summit as she participates in Planning Tools: Holistic Needs and Opportunities Assessment with Isilay Civan of HOK and Rachel Isacoff of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Erin will provide insight into how multifamily building owners can build on their typical physical needs assessments and energy audits to research and plan retrofits that have broader impact on residents. Erin will be featuring her work on health impact assessments.
