Design excellence is often seen to have little connection to social justice, but in fact the city’s physical and social infrastructure are inexorably intertwined. Affordable housing can be the platform for so much more than just ‘units’ and social services. Through thoughtful design, affordable housing can lead the way in green building, architectural quality, wellness and neighborhood revitalization.
Mithun’s Anne Torney will participate in Speak Your Truth, a series of four-minute rapid-fire, juried presentations at Living Future 2016. Anne will explore an approach to affordable housing that is indispensable to creating living cities: beautiful, highly integrated, choice-rich places that make sustainable living convenient, and happiness and health the norm.
