Date & Time:

Mithun Principal Sandy Mendler will explore the vision, master plan and architecture that brought Chatham University’s Eden Hall Campus to life at “Accentuate the Positive: Climate Responsive Design.” Peter Walker, Dean of Chatham University’s Falk School of Sustainability, will give a tour of the grounds and buildings, allowing visitors to see this young campus as a net-zero loop-closing model for 22nd century living.

This AIA+2030 session will address the question, “What do we need to know in order to create an informed design?” and examine the synergies and tradeoffs of major design decisions.

Sandy will be joined by Christine Mondor, evolveEA and Charles Rosenblum, Carnegie Mellon University, who will discuss how integrated design accounts for the resources sites offer, as well as minimizing unwanted environmental conditions, exploring climate data, site characteristics and other tools to conduct a site resource inventory.
