Security Properties recently broke ground on the second phase of development in Bellevue’s emerging Spring District. The Mithun-designed mixed use complex incorporates 279 residential units, retail, parking and diverse amenities.

Spring District Phase 2 consists of a nine-story building and two six-story buildings with a blend of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments above commercial space. Building amenities include rooftop decks, fitness facility, pet salon and common areas.

The transit-oriented development (TOD) is located in a former industrial area that is transitioning into a mixed use community linked by regional light rail. “With the explosive growth underway in the Puget Sound region, we’re excited to be part of TOD projects like Spring District Phase 2 that create vibrant residential communities in support of the Washington State Growth Management Act,” says Mithun chairman and design partner Bert Gregory, FAIA.

Security Properties’ John Marasco adds, “With new residential, retail and office projects on the way… together with the rapidly advancing Sound Transit East Link, we’re seeing the long-awaited Spring District take shape, and we couldn’t be happier to be a part of it.”

Spring District Phase 2 is scheduled for completion in late 2018. Mithun is providing architecture, interior design and landscape architecture services. Walsh Construction is the general contractor.
