The upward trend in school systems setting emission reduction targets, goals for clean energy and designing zero energy schools is reassuring, but it is still far from the norm across the country. There are countless myths to overcome and challenges to convincing clients to prioritize these targets in their school projects.
Join Mithun principal JoAnn Hindmarsh Wilcox for “It’s All About Carbon: Decarbonization and Embodied Carbon in Schools,” an interactive session that will help those struggling with this reality by sharing proven strategies including mass timber, decarbonization roadmaps, district level carbon reduction targets and targeted stakeholder engagement. Participants will also dive into a fun carbon emissions reduction design challenge, working in small groups to address real challenges and envision a greener future for the K12 sector.
JoAnn’s co-presenters include Institute of the Built Environment executive director Brian Dunbar (moderator), New Buildings Institute program director Amy Cortese, and New York City School Construction Authority’s Jeremy Shannon.
