The AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Top Ten Awards are architecture’s best-known award program for sustainable design excellence. Each year, innovative projects are recognized for their integration of design excellence with environmental performance, equity, and climate action.

Join Mithun associate principal Mary Telling for “Performing Beautifully: The COTE Top Ten Awards” to explore this year’s winning projects and key strategies for integrating sustainable materials, reducing total carbon, and creating equitable communities. Mary will share highlights from the sustainable design of 2023 COTE award-winning Casa Adelante 2060 Folsom, a mixed-use building with 127 permanently affordable homes and a rich offering of resident and community-serving spaces on the ground floor. The project is the first large all-electric multifamily housing in San Francisco and boasts a net EUI of 14.9.

The session will feature brief presentations by all ten award-winning project teams along with discussion of key themes by this year’s esteemed jury—VMDO Architects director of sustainability and associate principal Michelle Amt, David Baker Architects principal and sustainability director Katie Ackerly, Metropolis editor in chief Avinash Rajagopal, and Arcadis net zero facilities and sustainable communities solution leader Elaine Gallagher Adams.
