New Show Opens at Threshold Gallery: The Unknown

Date Posted: 07.03.2023

A new exhibition of paintings by Leo Shallat is now on display at Threshold Gallery. Please join us for a reception with the artist on Thursday, July 6th, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.

The Unknown
The unknown is a series of paintings with undefined direction. Each piece is created day by day, taking influences from music, readings, musings and patterns that arrive as the artist works. In this way the paintings become like journals, detailing the daily life and thoughts of the artist, unfolding like a series of long form conversations. The unknown is inspired by the idea that we don’t need to know where we are going, we simply need to follow an intuition or a feeling while continuing to show up until the full picture has formed in front of us. In this series the focus of techniques combines neutral color palettes with abstracted calligraphic marks, patterns, and collaged elements to form an intuitive abstract language.

Threshold Gallery
Threshold Gallery was established by Mithun in 2008 to connect people with art, artists and the built environment, as well as to inspire and drive our work as designers. The gallery is located within our Seattle offices at Pier 56, and is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
