Sustainability has become a ubiquitous term. But do you know how it is actually measured? Ever since the U.N.’s Bruntland commission established the concept of ‘sustainable development’ in 1987, hundreds of sustainability rating tools have been created. This evening kicks off the 2023 Design Dialogues series with discussion about three local projects that have undertaken some of the more innovative and rigorous paths to sustainable design and construction — and have had to prove it through complex measuring tools.

Join Mithun principal Antonio Pares for “Sustain: Holding Sustainable Development Accountable” to hear about how leading architects working in Healdsburg are advancing sustainable design. He will discuss how material choices within the design of Enso Village address fire resiliency and advance resident health, and the metrics used to measure achievement of project goals.

Antonio’s co-presenters include MFLA partner James Munden discussing Silver Oak Winery, and David Baker Architects principal Brett Jones sharing Hotel Sebastopol.
