This event is the fourth in a series of think tanks put on by Waikīkī Resilience & Sea Level Rise Adaptation Project (WRAP). These think tanks serve to coordinate collaborative, community-participatory engagement and visioning activities and proof-of-concept research, analysis, planning and design services to work towards a framework for a future Waikīkī adaptation and resilience plan. This session aims to identify additional WRAP project needs and considerations by discussing the built environment implications of managed retreat and related communication strategies in participatory design and visioning processes.

In the think tank session “Communicating Long-Term Retreat: Spatial and Temporal Scales,” Mithun senior associate Laura Durgerian will share conceptual forms and scales of retreat from Mithun’s Equitable Managed Retreat R+D project, using the Sea2City Design Challenge as a case study.
