Mithun has finalized our fifth Just label, representing almost 10 years of participation in and commitment to Living Future’s Just program. The Just framework serves as a tool to help organizations evaluate and evolve policies, practices, and culture around equity and employee wellness. Sometimes referred to as a nutrition label for companies, the Just label is a transparent sharing of Mithun practices with the aim to inspire positive change both inside and outside our organization. We view this work as a vital step toward a future where communities live in harmony and where a truly sustainable world is built on a socially just foundation.
DIVERSITY AND EQUITY
Our ongoing focus on diversity and equity is reflected in the progress we’ve made on the respective Just label indicators, particularly in the Gender Pay Equity category. In addition to having a gender-diverse team, we are committed to internal education and external advocacy that support equity in the broader design field. As of January 2025, Mithun is also a majority woman-owned firm.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
This label is our first under the revised Just 3.0 requirements. Each iteration of the Just program aims to address contemporary challenges in the workplace and emphasizes continuous improvement in how organizations support their employees and community at large.
Mithun partner Anne Torney says of the changes, “One of our [Mithun] values is this idea of constant evolution, and we appreciate that Just is also evolving… the prompts in Just help us ask pointed questions.”
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Asking those questions helped us identify areas to evolve employee support and engagement. Mithun has long offered continuing education courses to staff and this year introduced an annual per-employee professional development stipend to further encourage staff to pursue areas of interest. We deeply value giving back to the communities in which we work, so at the end of 2025, employees helped select organizations (identified by Just-prompted community assessments) that then each received charitable donations from the firm.
Our commitment to equity and transparency is a living practice, not just a set of goals. This fifth Just label continues to ensure Mithun’s impact is as sustainable for our people and communities as it is for the built environment.
