Resources for Community Development celebrated the groundbreaking today for Riviera Family Apartments, an affordable multifamily housing development in downtown Walnut Creek, California. This is the first project under construction in Contra Costa County that is funded by the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program, which uses cap and trade proceeds to fund infill affordable housing near transit. The City of Walnut Creek approved significantly reduced parking for the transit-oriented development, which includes 58 units and community spaces in two buildings, car share and parking lifts.
