Site-specific interpretation provides an authentic experience of place and creates a powerful lens into the legacy of an individual or cultural group. Providing visitors with a contextual experience is accomplished through methods tailored to each site’s unique characteristics.
Join Mithun principal Dakota Keene for “Place Matters: Site-Specific Interpretation” as she and Suquamish Museum and Cultural Center director Janet Smoak moderate a panel discussion exploring this idea in detail through four locations: the Basque Block Museum and Cultural Center, James Castle House, Hemingway House and Preserve, and the Suquamish Cultural District.
Panelists include: City of Boise Department of Arts and History cultural sites manager Rachel Reichert, Basque Museum and Cultural Center Basque cultural studies educator Meggan Laxalt Mackey, The Community Library director of regional history Mary Tyson and Suquamish Tribe director of research and strategic development Robin Little Wing Sigo.
