The newly opened Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) visitor experience planning team applied an unorthodox approach when developing the museum’s master plan: they used a Reggio Emilia-inspired process to engage very young children in the visitor experience master plan. This approach led to a deep investigation into children’s thinking, how they express themselves in drawings and words, and an institutional commitment to continue to keep children at the center of planning, design and future programming.
Join Mithun partner Rich Franko for “Listening to Children: Getting Started on a Visitor Experience Master Plan,” to learn how how the visitor experience planning team used this process to engage very young children at the onset of this multi-year project, how LCM keeps children involved in the new facility and where the museum is looking towards the future.
Discussion will be moderated by Gyroscope principal Maeryta Medrano. Rich’s co-panelists are LCM CEO Julia Bland, Studio Matthews principal Kristine Matthews and Vergeront Museum Planning founder Jeanne Vergeront.
