Novelty Hill’s destination winery celebrates the art and science of winemaking as well as wine’s agrarian roots. Building and landscape work in harmony to reveal the production process and remind visitors of the inextricable link between wine and earth.
Biophilia and Experience
The entry is animated with shadows cast by a giant big leaf maple, and gravel crunches underfoot. The narrow, sloped site is interrupted by staggered planes of concrete, glass and wood—cold and warm, hard and soft. A series of views and overlooks seamlessly integrates interior spaces with the landscape, amplifying the experience of both wine and place.
Enriching the Community
Novelty Hill is a contemporary addition to the Woodinville wine district, bringing a fresh perspective to the traditional context. The winery is accessible from regional bridle and bike trails, and hosts popular events amidst its terraces, bocce court and outdoor fireplace.
