Mithun principal Nick Wai-Poi and partner Anne Torney will lead the ULI San Francisco NEXT Cohort Program on a tour of Transbay Block 2, which includes two multi-family housing projects currently under construction. Transbay Block 2W features senior housing and is designed by Mithun with Kerman Morris Architects, associate architect. Block 2E contains affordable family housing and is designed by Kennerly Architecture & Planning in association with Y.A. Studio.
When complete in later this year, the nine-story, 109,650 sf Block 2W affordable housing development will provide 151 rental units for senior households earning 15% to 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI), with 30 homes reserved for those who have experienced homelessness. The building includes a mix of studios and one-bedroom apartments, supportive services, shared amenities to foster community among residents, a sixth-floor roof deck, a courtyard garden and 3,000 sf of ground-floor retail. The design will form a backdrop to the future Transbay Park at the heart of the district.
