We’re excited to share a peek into our newly refreshed offices at Seattle’s Pier 56. Featuring a wide range of collaboration and focused work settings, the biophilic space is Fitwel certified and targeting Living Building Challenge (LBC) Materials Petal certification. Humans have an innate need to connect with the natural world. At the same time, emerging mass timber technology has the capacity to help reduce and achieve net-negative embodied carbon. Finding a way to optimize mass timber technology that affords a cost-competitive biophilic approach to build better schools is the missing link.
We are proud to announce Mithun's 18th year of carbon neutral operations firmwide, with third-party certification and offset of emissions annually since 2004. Learn more: https://t.co/p1L1TzFxyH #CarbonNeutral #EarthDayEveryDay https://t.co/mATwNm7Kpo
Mithun-designed student housing facilities totaling more than 4,000 student beds help UCLA clear its waitlist and guarantee housing for all freshmen and transfers. It is the first and only UC campus to do so.
The grant funds will support research into all-electric innovations including islanding and additional battery storage to improve resilience for the mixed-use development incorporating affordable housing, transit station and a prominent new pedestrian connection.
Did you know that Mithun has had carbon neutral operations since 2004? We’re currently in our 18th year of measuring and offsetting firmwide operational carbon emissions and hold Climate Registered Gold status through #TheClimateRegistry, which provides third-party verification and transparent reporting to the public. 📷: @k7scott

Happy Earth Day! We’re thrilled to share that Louisiana Children's Museum has received an AIA COTE Top Ten Plus Award! This national sustainable design recognition represents the highest standards for design excellence and environmental performance with rigorous criteria for social, economic and ecological value. In addition, the project earned a "Plus" designation for its exemplary performance data and post occupancy lessons. This is the seventh AIA COTE Top Ten Award for Mithun.
After Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Louisiana Children’s Museum re-envisioned its mission to holistically address the health and development of children in a state that often ranks 48th in educational outcomes. The health and well-being benefits of intentionally connecting children with nature led the museum to relocate from an indoor-focused experience in New Orleans’ Warehouse District to a new campus encircling a lagoon in the 1,300-acre City Park. The new campus presents a transformative model for children’s museums, one that weaves together indoor and outdoor learning opportunities along with literacy, parenting, early childhood research and environmental education activities to create a holistic and supportive environment for children and their families.
