A pop of color to brighten your week! Our team joined with San Francisco Parks Alliance and neighbors to paint a temporary sidewalk mural at the site of the future Moss Street Eco-Zone, which will include rainwater harvesting, stormwater treatment, habitat and social space. Located in the city’s Filipino Cultural Heritage District, the mural design alludes to forthcoming public realm improvements that use a traditional weaving motif. 📷: @sfparksalliance

We are thrilled to share that Mithun received two Awards of Excellence in last night’s @WashingtonASLA Professional Awards program! Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) was recognized in the General Design, Private Ownership category, and Yosemite National Park Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias was recognized for Research, Analysis and Planning. We are honored to be included among this year’s recipients and thankful to be part of such a thoughtful and creative design community here in Washington. Featured in gallery are the “Hummock Hop” exhibit at LCM and “Fallen Monarch” at Mariposa Grove. 📷: @k7scott, Christian Runge

The original, Mithun-designed Fairwood Library in Renton, Washington was configured as three side-by-side gable forms. This expansion designed by Schacht Aslani Architects (which joined Mithun in 2019) inserts a long-span, flat-roofed pavilion between the original volumes, creating a central space that organizes the library’s activities. The design connects patrons with views of the surrounding woodland, increases access to the library’s broadening array of resources, and creates a community living room. It’s a story of renewal and connection that was just meant to be. 📷: Tim Bies
