Chi Aoyama

Associate Principal

Chi is a designer with more than 15 years of practice spanning a wide range of project types and scales—institutional, academic, workplace, commercial programs and mixed-use complexes up to two million square-feet in size. He has completed projects across the United States and internationally, with significant buildings in Japan, South Korea and China. On all efforts, Chi deftly leverages the latest computational design tools and visualization programs to resolve complex technical and program needs.

In addition to these project-based efforts Chi serves as a technical resource and process advisor as part of the coLAB, connecting diverse teams with new technology and advancing workflow across platforms and disciplines. He has contributed to multiple Mithun R+D projects that bridge gaps between modeling programs to accelerate evaluation of detailed design options and enhance building performance in terms of beauty, function and operation.
