UC San Diego held a groundbreaking ceremony for Mesa Nueva Graduate and Professional Student Housing on September 18th. Project Director Brendan Connolly, was on site to participate in the ceremony.
With completion planned in 2017, The $172 million project—a design-build collaboration with Hensel Phelps—will feature 853 graduate micro-apartments, 250 faculty and family apartments, open courtyard spaces and amenity areas, retail and a market/café. To support the university’s commitment to sustainable campus growth, Mesa Nueva is targeting LEED Gold by using natural cooling and ventilation, high performing building envelope and energy systems and on-site renewable energy.
