The UC San Diego Mesa Nueva graduate student housing community received the San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) / Savings by Design Energy Efficiency and Integration Award at the AIA San Diego Design Awards event yesterday evening. The annual awards program promotes design excellence, sustainability and social responsibility by recognizing projects that strengthen the overall power and scope of architecture, shape the built environments and enrich the human spirit.
The AIA San Diego board “admired the project’s ability to exceed Title 24 requirements by 24%. The integration of energy efficiency with LEED Gold certification, water efficiency, health and wellness and community engagement elevated this project to be an award winner.”
