Glenrock Apartments is located within walking distance of campus on a steep up-slope site in the residential neighborhood of Westwood. Without directly mimicking either, the design honors both the Los Angeles tradition of dense courtyard housing and the nearby iconic works of Richard Neutra and Gregory Ain.

Courtyard Communities

The sometimes boisterous life of undergraduates is contained within a series of linked courts that step up the hill. These richly landscaped courtyards flow between the site’s terraced levels, bringing porosity to building entries and common areas, and inviting serendipitous conversations. Living areas extend to the outdoors with barbeque and seating areas that connect the student community and capitalize on the beautiful climate.
