Unique communities require unique solutions. As the health, well-being and equity needs of every community will differ, it has never been more essential to engage community members to prioritize health-promoting building and neighborhood strategies. In this panel presentation, diverse practitioners present neighborhood planning and affordable housing examples that challenge conventional project delivery, improving community health and equity.

Join Mithun partner Erin Christensen Ishizaki for “Health at the Community Scale” to explore connections between health, equity and resilience and how to use green building strategies to promote community health and well-being. The presentation will feature the Centering Health Equity action framework along with a case study demonstration using the City of Phoenix Edison-Eastlake One Vision Plan. Attendees will learn how to incorporate health and well-being strategies into their own green building practice, as well as describe how their building-scale efforts relate to broader community and state-level health promotion goals and activities.

Erin’s co-presenters include Raimi + Associates principal Walker Wells, California Department of Public Health Climate Change and Health Equity Section team lead Dan Woo, and Century Housing Corporation senior vice president Brian D’Andrea. USGBC director of health research Kelly Worden will moderate the discussion.
