The design-build project delivery method can maximize teamwork, provides accountability and continuity throughout design and construction, and enhances communication and collaboration. In fact, the elements that make design-build unique, innovative and successful are the same elements that help team members build meaningful relationships and go home feeling challenged, empowered and eager to take on the next project. These benefits, however, don’t just happen because it’s a design-build project. It takes a shift in mindset from traditional design-bid-build project delivery. It also requires adequate training and education of design-build best practices, mentorship, guidance and lessons learned from your project leadership.

Join Mithun associate principal Seamus Kelly for “Building a Fulfilling Future: Maximizing the Benefits of Design-Build while also Building on Professional and Personal Fulfillment.” In this presentation, panelists with varying degrees of design-build project experience will discuss what they like about the delivery method, what makes this work challenging and fulfilling, and what they wished they would have known when they got started.

Seamus’ fellow panelists include Miller Hull principal Elizabeth Moggio, KPFF associate Jessica Westermeyer, Lease Crutcher Lewis project engineer Tyler Thornton and Skanska senior project manager Margot Van Swearingen. Lake Washington School District capital program manager Laura DeGooyer will moderate the discussion.
