The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE) Top Ten Awards are architecture’s best-known award program for sustainable design excellence. Each year, ten innovative projects are recognized for their integration of design excellence with environmental performance, equity and climate action.
Join Mithun principal Daniel Swaab for “AIA COTE Top Ten 2025 Showcase: Celebrating Sustainable Design Excellence,” a pecha kucha-style webinar featuring the current cohort of winning projects and their demonstrated strategies for integrating sustainable materials, reducing total carbon and creating equitable communities. Daniel will share design highlights from The Bush School Upper School, a new deep green classroom and commons building for the private K-12 school. The new Upper School building is the largest Passive House certified school building in the Western U.S., and first Salmon Safe certified school in the country with stormwater systems that enhance the watershed and protect salmon habitats. The Zero Energy certified academic building features a post-and-beam glulam structure and mass plywood panel decking to reduce embodied carbon and optimize construction.
Dan will be joined by design team members from the other nine projects. Learn more about all ten AIA COTE Top Ten Award-winning projects that will be featured in the webinar here, and register for the free educational session here.
