In 2022, Shoreline, WA residents voted to improve eight parks simultaneously using the progressive design-build delivery method. With five of these now complete, the client, contractor and design team discuss advantages — material re-use, shared design vocabulary — and challenges, including the complexity of managing eight concurrent projects in this increasingly popular delivery method.
Join Mithun senior associate Kasia Keeley for “Ambition at Scale: Rewards and Risks of Multi-project Design-build Delivery” to learn about progressive design-build delivery and how it differs from traditional design-build and design-bid-build methods from the perspectives of the project client, designer and contractor. Presenters will evaluate the benefits and challenges of bundled projects, including streamlined specifications and detailing, material reuse, overlapping deliverables and overburdened review time. Featured projects include Kruckeberg Botanic Garden Boardwalk, Richmond Highlands Park and James Keough Park.
