The 23rd annual Architecture + the City Festival, hosted by AIA San Francisco and the SF Center for Architecture + Design, is a citywide celebration of architecture, design and the built environment.
Join Mithun partner Anne Torney and principal Iveanette Santiago Rivera for “Kapuso at the Upper Yard: Housing, Transit and Public Space in Action,” an engaging tour and presentation of an award-winning transit-oriented development at Balboa Park Station. Kapuso at the Upper Yard combines 131 affordable homes with a vibrant, community-serving public realm. Attendees will explore how housing, open space and multimodal transit come together to create a welcoming hub for residents and commuters alike, shaped by an extensive multilingual community visioning process. The presentation will center the collaboration among BART, SFMTA, MOHCD and community advocates that transformed an underutilized site into a model for equitable, transit-supportive development.
