We’re excited to participate in this weekend’s Seattle Design Festival, a two-day street fair celebrating the powerful ways design affects our lives. Our contribution, the Pop-up Lounge celebrates decentering the designer through active listening to community needs. In conversations with Sawhorse Revolution, a fabulous non-profit that teaches youth carpentry and design through community projects, Mithun learned that they needed tables… so we built a collection for the temporary exhibit and later relocation to the new Sawhorse classroom. We hope you’ll swing by Lake Union Park this weekend, Aug 21 & 22, and visit the Pop-up Lounge to engage with other guests and consider the voices that are often left out of design conversations!

A thoughtful renovation, the University of Washington Children’s Center at Portage Bay transforms an existing University parking garage into a sustainable, connected and playful early learning center for infants and children up to age five. The design supports Montessori-based learning with diverse opportunities for hands-on engagement, and linked indoor and outdoor learning spaces for exploration. 📷: @k7scott

This renovation and expansion project updates allied health and STEM programs while creating a much-needed hub for community gathering at the heart of the North Seattle College campus. The steel-framed addition floats over the original 1970s post-tensioned concrete structure, introducing light and color into the predominantly gray campus. Reaching beyond the original Silver-level target, the LEED Gold certified building incorporates green stormwater strategies, grey water and daylight harvesting, chilled beams and a dedicated outside air system. 📷: @laraswimmer

We love to collaborate with artists to create unique spaces and experiences! For this Seattle technology workplace, @ellenpicken crafted a vibrant wall mural at the entry lobby. The black linework is inspired by the structure of the internet while the color represents connections it makes between people, information, cultures and ideas. Some imagine a mystic grotto overflowing with waterfalls. What do you see? 📷: @k7scott
