Tomorrow we pause to recognize and celebrate Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States 155 years ago, and renew our commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. Shown in the photo is a mural at Liberty Bank Building, which broke ground on Juneteenth three years ago. Developed by a partnership between Africatown Community Land Trust, the Black Community Impact Alliance, @ByrdBarrPlace, and Community Roots Housing (formerly Capitol Hill Housing), this mixed-use housing project honors a rich history and provides a model for taking meaningful steps to reverse the injustices faced by the Black community in Seattle’s Central District neighborhood. 📷: @k7scott
