Liberty Bank, founded in 1968, was the first black-owned bank in the Pacific Northwest. In this interview with Michelle Purnell-Hepburn, KIRO spotlights the history of this landmark institution and the innovative site redevelopment to create affordable housing and support black-owned businesses. We had a fantastic experience working with Michelle and the entire Liberty Bank Building team to honor the bank’s legacy and serve the community with this project.
