Key to this renovation was the removal of walls and partitions that had subdivided spaces, separating them from light and views. Previously isolated from the adjacent lounge, the solarium is now an integrated amenity with front row seats to the Lodge’s commanding views of the Pacific Ocean. Increased window area, high-performance glazing and integral shading enhance guest comfort and building performance alike. Learn more via link at bio. 📷: Robert Herrick / The Sea Ranch Lodge

With this extensive renovation, respect for the history of the building was fundamental to the design. The Sea Ranch Lodge interiors were rebuilt using new materials that match the original character, with careful preservation a large-scale supergraphic by Barbara Stauffacher Solomon. The resulting experience is updated and expanded, improving accessibility, guest comfort and building performance while retaining details that make The Sea Ranch special. The Sea Ranch Lodge renovation removed decades of remodels that compromised the historic structure, strengthening connections between spaces and the stunning coastal views beyond. Now open, the revitalized destination elevates an iconic experience while honoring the original design vision forged by Joe Esherick, Al Boeke, Lawrence Halperin and Barbara Stauffacher Solomon. At Perot Family Offices, the material palette of limestone, glass and wood extends out to a series of terraces and gardens for dining, collaboration and events. The garden terrace features simple plantings of thornless Mesquite trees and drought-tolerant native grasses along a Lueders limestone wall. Visible in the previous image is a custom water feature that emulates local Karst limestone geology and abstracts the flood regime of adjacent Turtle Creek by daily changes in velocity: a trickle in the morning, to a full spill over the water tables by noon and back to a seep by night. 📷: @brucedamonte

The Perot Family Offices at Turtle Creek is a great example of integrated design at work. Our interior design, architecture and landscape team worked in concert to craft compositions like this view of the boardroom door. Materials including limestone and wood contrast with bright natural light that draw your eye to unique moments throughout the project, indoors and out. Mithun R+D drives positive change by advancing design knowledge and its application. Different digital design programs have different functional strengths. How can we best connect these tools for powerful, nimble, real-time design while harnessing the iterative nature of AI? Façade Generator bridges the gap between Revit and other modeling programs, specifically Rhino and Grasshopper, to easily study façade patterns and articulation that are otherwise too cumbersome to implement or explore in Revit at early stages of a project. The conceptual drivers for design option exploration include environmental response, programmatic relationships, panelization, modularity and color. Mithun R+D drives positive change by advancing design knowledge and its application. The Scripted Anthropometry effort examined how the body can be embedded within contemporary design with emergent digital fabrication tools. Using computer scripting, 3D printing and five-axis CNC fabrication, the team researched how to effectively model complex anthropomorphic shapes and directly cast them into concrete forms, applying this research to design and fabricate a bench installation at Louisiana Children’s Museum. Mithun R+D drives positive change by advancing design knowledge and its application. On Fire examines fire-adapted environments, studying both the varied sociocultural history of fire management and the breadth of existing prescriptive best management practices for designers working within fire-prone environments. This team is developing a design toolkit through an integrated approach, considering land use, landscape design and building design simultaneously.
