Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! This year, we’re particularly thankful for the resilient spring greens provided by mother nature. Sharing a meditative view from the deep-green Sustainability Treehouse in Mount Hope, West Virginia, an AIA COTE Top Ten Award winner. 📷: Joe Fletcher
We were honored to work with Seattle Foundation to craft a workplace that advances their mission to catalyze philanthropic efforts across the Puget Sound region. The Foundation’s work is particularly important at difficult times like these. Gray Magazine includes Sanctuary Studios among The Best Things We Saw Last Month: “Sanctuary might have finally cracked the code on using tech as a tool for finding presence in the real world. And, it doesn’t hurt that their studio is kitted out in swank, immersive décor with rich textures, dramatic lighting, and bold, saturated color. Walking into Sanctuary feels like being transported to your own private micro-retreat where nothing—and nobody—can distract.” Thanks, @gray_magazine! 📷: Lauren Segal
Did you know that women make up 46% of Mithun’s leadership team and the majority of our firm overall? We gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day in our offices Friday with toasts to women in design and those making an impact around the world.
Happy Leap Day! We celebrate every four years with a special Friday happy hour and the ceremonial opening of Mithun time capsules in each office. The tradition started in 2012, and we’ll continue to look back and add new artifacts with each leap year. What are your predictions for 2024?

Anthropometry, the study of the human body’s shape and proportion, is one of architecture’s earliest tropes. Expanding on this tradition, a recent Mithun R+D effort investigated how the body can be embedded within contemporary design utilizing emergent digital fabrication tools. Revealing History, Promoting Culture. ARTS at King Street Station is a welcoming, vibrant arts and cultural hub that highlights communities of color and honors indigenous origins. The space’s raw, unfinished character reveals the building’s evolution from an historic train station to a contemporary transit and cultural hub. In addition to gallery spaces, ARTS provides flexible, co-use areas for community gathering and workspace for the City of Seattle Office of Arts and Culture. A public “Living Room” connects the gallery with a studio for artists-in-residence. Designed as Schacht Aslani Architects with Olson Kundig, gallery consultant. 📷: Benjamin Benschneider
