Happy International Women’s Day! Today we’re celebrating the amazing, skillful women at Mithun and those we collaborate with at partner and client organizations. We are also thinking of women around the world who face greater restrictions on their freedoms and sense of possibility. For all, we are driven to leverage design for positive change every day.

An innovative midcentury structure gets long-overdue recognition – and an upgrade. Architectural Record covers the Robert Frost Auditorium renovation by Hodgetts + Fung (now Mithun) and the interesting story behind the “work of engineering bravura, with its overarching roof of pleated thin-shell concrete, only 4 inches thick, and clear span of 240 feet.” @archrecordmag https://www.architecturalrecord.com/articles/13864-robert-frost-auditorium-by-hodgetts-fung (clickable link in bio) 📷: Patrick Giardino, @lane_barden

A thoughtful renovation within an existing building, the UW Children’s Center at Portage Bay is designed as a sustainable, connected and playful environment for infants and children up to age five. Child-sized windows connect rooms at their level, inviting children to explore and build relationships across age groups and learning spaces. Newly landscaped outdoor areas transform a vacated space between parking garages into a learning community and recreation area. 📷: @k7scott
