We kicked off the spring Creative Series with David Bullaro’s beloved “Fix Your Bike” workshop and happy hour. With bikes newly tuned, we’re pedaling into Bike Everywhere Month with new skills and ready to log some miles! 📷: Zhenru Zhang
We’re excited to lead a tour of @thenorthwestschool for attendees of the 2018 A4LE PNW Regional Conference on May 4. The 401 East Pike building is a catalyst project for the independent school, enriching its urban campus and consolidating programs that were previously distributed across the neighborhood. The variegated façade echoes the signature yellow clapboards of the adjacent historic Summit School building. An overlaid fenestration pattern, inspired by wavelengths, celebrates the school’s art and science focused curriculum. Sustainability is integrated throughout, from native plantings to the interactive energy and water performance dashboard, and rooftop solar hot water array. 📷: Benjamin Benschneider
Mithun celebrated Earth Day on Saturday with a day of service at Washington Park Arboretum. We had a great time together removing invasive species and helping to preserve the natural beauty of this local treasure. 📷: George Gibbs
Spring is here and we’re looking forward to long sunny afternoons! The rooftop gathering space at @heartlinepdx offers panoramic views of downtown Portland and Mount Hood, as well as a community garden, outdoor kitchens, fire pit and landscaped area with water feature. Opening soon. http://heartlineapartments.com/ Image: Plompmozes
We’re excited to share that @ChathamU Eden Hall Campus has received a 2018 Education Facility Design Award of Excellence from the @AIAnational Committee on Architecture for Education (CAE)! We’re closing off National Library Week with another favorite: the @SeattleU Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons. Built in 1964, Lemieux Library was an uninviting repository for books that lacked modern technology and functionality. The design reinvents this campus landmark by pairing a sensitive renewal of the historic structure with the addition of a light-filled learning commons, restoring the library’s central role on campus. In honor of National Library Week we’re sharing Newcastle Library, an iconic landmark at the center of Newcastle’s evolving civic village. Sited in the heart of the retail core, the library’s transparent façade and glowing Gathering Porch welcome the community inside. Eye-catching orange acrylic seating platforms allow visitors to read outside on nice days or linger over a conversation. Inside, flexible reading and meeting spaces are a comfortable destination to gain knowledge, join a community discussion, attend a reading or sink into a good book. 📷: Benjamin Benschneider
We recently joined with hundreds of Blakely Elementary School students in yellow construction hats to help celebrate the groundbreaking of construction on their new school. We’re all excited to see the replacement facility take shape over the coming year! It’s been wonderful collaborating with @bainbridgeislandschooldistrict, the local community, @forma_construction, and our incredible design team including @arupamericas, PCS Structural Solutions, LPD Engineering, JLR Design Group and Robinson Company. Pulling together a palette inspired by outdoor concerts and desert skies—incorporating pattern, nature and fresh pops of color. Can’t wait to see it come to life in a Silicon Valley technology workplace! 📷: Zhenru Zhang
