Designed for highly focused technology engineers, this Google workplace leverages biophilic principles to enhance concentration and collaboration, and lower stress. Code- and nature-inspired patterns integrate in unexpected ways through light installations, graphics and materials. A new skylit central stair promotes movement and visual connection between floors. Elements of surprise are dispersed throughout the building, like the hidden door within a library bookcase that leads to a quiet space for focus. What an incredible journey! We are grateful to the North Richmond Community Advisory Board for sharing their hopes, dreams and priorities for their neighborhood’s future with the Mithun Home Team as part of the Resilient by Design Bay Area Challenge. Their voices directed the development of ouR-HOME, a collection of concept-level projects that will turn investments in sea level rise adaptations and aging infrastructure into opportunities for all. The Community Advisory Board will continue to meet and push these projects forward, reporting to the North Richmond Municipal Advisory Board.
